HSA/FSA for Sauna Rental

by Simply Sauna Team

If you’ve got an HSA or FSA, you may be able to get reimbursed for Simply Sauna rentals using pre-tax funds. It’s not a “swipe your HSA card at checkout” thing — you qualify first through a quick Flex consultation, get a Letter of Medical Necessity if approved, then book your sauna like normal and submit your letter + receipt for reimbursement. The whole eligibility check takes about 2 minutes to start, and your letter (if you qualify) can be valid for a full year.

HSA/FSA for Sauna Rental

If you’ve got an HSA or FSA, there’s a decent chance you can get reimbursed for Simply Sauna rentals using pre-tax money.

Not everyone qualifies (more on that), and it’s not as simple as swiping your HSA card at checkout but the process is straightforward and takes a couple minutes to start.

We partnered with Flex to make this easy.

What “HSA/FSA eligible” actually means here
This is reimbursement, not “pay with your HSA card.”

You:

  1. do a quick consultation through Flex

  2. book your sauna like normal (pay with a regular card)

  3. submit your paperwork + receipt to your HSA/FSA provider

  4. get reimbursed if everything checks out

So yeah, you’re paying up front, then getting paid back with your pre-tax funds.

The 3-step process (it’s actually simple)
Step 1: Do the Flex consult (takes ~2 minutes)
Flex runs a short chat-based consultation with a licensed provider. It costs $15.

If you qualify, you’ll get a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN), usually in under two hours.

Also: that $15 consult fee is HSA/FSA eligible too.

Step 2: Book your Simply Sauna rental like you always do
Once you have your letter, book your rental through our normal booking flow.

Important: pay with a standard payment method (credit/debit/bank transfer). Don’t use your HSA/FSA card at checkout.

Step 3: Submit for reimbursement
You submit:

  • your Letter of Medical Necessity

  • your Simply Sauna receipt

…to your HSA/FSA provider to get reimbursed.

Your letter is valid for one full year, so if you qualify, you’re not doing this process every single time you rent, you can use the same letter for future purchases during that year.

A few rules that matter (don’t skip these)

  • Do the Flex consult before you book

  • Only same-day or future purchases can be reimbursed (not past rentals)

  • Your LMN lasts one year

  • The $15 consultation fee is also eligible

  • Not everyone qualifies, the provider decides

Why some people qualify in the first place
Sauna isn’t just “spa vibes.” A lot of people use it for stuff that’s pretty practical, like:

  • Stress relief (nervous system downshift is real)

  • Recovery (soreness, stiffness, general beat-up-ness)

  • Cardiovascular support (heat exposure + circulation benefits)

  • Feeling better in your body day to day

The point isn’t that sauna magically fixes everything. The point is: if you have a real health-related reason and a licensed provider agrees it’s medically necessary, HSA/FSA reimbursement can be on the table.

The FAQ people actually ask
Can I just pay with my HSA/FSA card?
No. You pay normally, then submit for reimbursement.

How long does it take?
Flex is fast (often under two hours for the letter). Reimbursement timing depends on your HSA/FSA provider.

Do I have to do the consult every time?
No. If you qualify, the letter is valid for one year.

Does everyone qualify?
No, that’s literally what the consultation is for.
